(1) “Take Five” Strategy· 5 minutes at start of class to introduce Learning Intentions and Success Criteria expresses as the Key Words. 5 minutes at the end of class to review the Success criteria expressed as Key Words & Check for Learning - (Note: As part of Checking for Learning teachers should have some evidence of efforts made to “Capture the Learning” e.g. Bullseye strategy, Exit Tickets, Mini Whiteboards, Questioning, Thumbs up/down, Traffic Light System etc.).
(2) Questioning Strategy:· Roll out the following questioning strategies to promote deeper understanding and critical thinking and to check learning in relation to Learning Intentions, Key words and Success Criteria:1) Wait Time,2) No Hands Up, 3) No Opt Out, 4) Say It Again, Better. 5) Probing Questioning
(3) Introduce key word note books and encourage the use of notes copies to have a depository of key words for each subject.
(4) Co create Success Criteria: Students, in conjunction with their class teachers to co create a set of success criteria for teaching and learning that takes into account the range of student needs and interests.
